Snow reports. Snow play for Big Bear. Learn to ski/snowboard in Big Bear.

New Specials This Month
Are snow reports from other SoCal mountains scaring you?! Well check this out; Snow Summit and Bear Mountain have more terrain, more lifts, and more jibs than the other SoCal Mountains. It's higher, colder, we have a great snow surface and better coverage. And, more great snow storms are forecast for February starting next week. With quality conditions like these, it's no secret why SoCal snowboarders and skiers make Summit and Bear their home mountains. Take a look at the Snow Summit Snow Report and Bear Mountain Snow Report.
Big Bear Mountain Resorts continues to have the best snow conditions in California. Here's why:
- In November and December a few unique weather patterns brought slider storms that
- only centered over Big Bear Lake, and no where else!
- The unique snowstorms dumped three feet of snow to build a quality snow base at both
- Snow Summit and Bear Mountain.
- The best snowmaking equipment and expert snowmakers make REAL SNOW at every
- given opportunity.
- Last weekend snowmaking conditions were excellent in Big Bear with more than 30 hours
- of snowmaking. This provided a fresh layer of snow to the current three-foot base to
- enhance the overall skiing and riding experience.
- Yesterday's storm passed through and left us 3 inches of new snow, which was enough to now to freshen up our surface and make conditions super fun. WE HAVE PLENTY OF SNOW!!! We're back to that So-Cal weather we all love- nothin' but sun for the rest of this week. Put your Dual Mountain lift ticket to use and experience all that Snow Summit and Bear Mountain have to offer. We have nearly 438 skiable acres, 55 full-width runs, and more than 230 terrain park features.
SNOWmaking at SoCal's Best Resort
- Bear Mountain now has all 4 pipes open including the Superpipe.
- Nearly 100% runs open and all lifts are available at both Snow Summit and Bear Mountain.
- Regular Season Rates are in effect.
- There are some exciting new specials at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit.
- Check out our website for information on these money-saving deals.
Temps cooled down enough to give us a great night of snowmaking. We plan to make even
more snow tonight and will continue as long as conditions permit. Some runs may open late or may be closed due to snowmaking. Looking for something the whole family can enjoy? Look no further. Our Ski School staff would love to hang with the kids for the day, a couple days, or how ever long you would like! They will make some great new friends and we'll teach them how to ski and ride; a skill that will keep them happy for the rest of their lives. As for you, you deserve some time to do whatever you like. Whether it's taking some cruisers down Log Chute or racing down The Bowl, today is your day, make you happy.
With all the snow we've gotten already, it's hard to believe that winter is just starting, but we're kicking it off with a 3 foot snow base, 98% of our runs are open and excellent snow coverage. The weather up here is amazing with clear blue skies forecast all the way into next week! After the past couple days of cold, temps are starting to rise just in time for the holidays. Layer up for night session tonight, which is held every night through January 7th.
Big Bear Lake is the place for Southern Californians to experience a completely different climate and mountain terrain within a short drive of the Southern California deserts and beach areas. Temperatures average 22 to 25 degrees cooler than the valleys below. Families and groups of all kinds find the Big Bear lake area appealing because of its many recreational opportunities and an excellent selection of lodging from group retreats to reasonable cabin rentals. We have coupons for discounts on popular restaurants, bakery and boat rentals. Call us anytime at 909-866-2010.

BEAR MOUNTAIN:"Big changes are coming this week." -Clayton Shoemaker, Park Development. Things are going to go off this week at Bear Mountain. Last week's fresh snow and several days of snowmaking gave us piles to work with. We've already seen the reshaping of the top jumps and a couple rail resets, but that's hardly even worth talking about with what's to come. We can't give out too much info yet, but stay tuned to get hyped! Today we have packed powder, 10 open lifts between Bear Mountain and Snow Summit ,and the most open terrain in So Cal. Even though its windy down the hill, but it's pretty calm up here. The high is 35 so dress in layers, and make sure to share some of your park pics on our Facebook.

| BIG BEAR SETS THE STAGE The natural alpine scenery that surrounds Big Bear Lake, from lakeside to the mountaintops, creates stunning backdrops for events, which explains why so many events are held each year at the mountain resort. Summertime is the perfect fit for festivities, with a deep blue lake at center stage, thousands of shady trees swaying to the sounds of nature, and cool mountain breezes providing a natural air conditioning system for those looking to escape the heat. BIG BEAR LAKE OKTOBERFEST In the fall the most notable event is the annual Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest, the highest-altitude Oktoberfest celebration in the United States. For 41 years, this event has attracted thousands of visitors to enjoy German food, imported brews, Bavarian bands, traditional dances and competitions, such as the Queen Stein Carrying Contest. FILM FESTIVALS Another fall staple is The Big Bear Lake International Film Festival. It's where cinema meets the fresh alpine air. It showcases the emerging talents of screenwriters and independent filmmakers on the silver screen, all brimming with creativity. For three days audience members choose from documentaries, shorts and feature-length films, some moving, some daring, some thought-provoking, and others downright hilarious. The film festival is also a forum for those interested in all aspects of the film industry. In the midst of October, Big Bear Horro-Fi Film Festival showcases a variety of independent shorts and feature-length movies from bone-chilling suspense to mysterious macabre, just in time for Halloween. SNOWBOARD AND SKI CONTESTS AND WINTER HOLIDAY EVENTS Snow covered mountains in winter means ski and snowboard competitions at both Snow Summit and Bear Mountain. Christmas in the Village kicks off the holiday season with strolling musicians, Victorian-style carolers, Christmas tree lighting ceremony and of course, Santa Claus. Hundreds of skiers and snowboarders descend down the mountain at Snow Summit's annual New Year's Eve torchlight parade. TROUT FISHING TOURNAMENTS Of course the lake is teeming with rainbow trout, which means it's only natural to have fishing tournaments such as the May Trout Classic and the October Troutfest. There's even a way to win some big bucks! And all it takes is some fishing gear, bait, patience and a little luck. Anglers have the opportunity to catch a tagged trout worth $50,000 at Big Bear Lake's Fishin' for $50K Trout Derby in June. Check back more for next year's dates. TAKE IT OUTSIDE It only makes sense to kick off the summer months with a celebration to honor the great outdoors. National Trails Day and National Get Outdoors Day (hosted by the Big Bear Discovery Center) does just that, providing both traditional and innovative new ways to experience mother nature up close and personal. Open Air Big Bear takes it to the next level by promoting a healthy lifestyle with events to inspire people to get outside and stay active with a series of outdoor events with "altitude," such as Team Big Bear's Mountain Bike Shootouts, Big Bear Lake Paddlefest, and Endure the Bear Trail Run. In fact, the Open Air Big Bear series challenges individuals to the best of their abilities to finish each race to become part of "Conquer the Bear." It's a challenge that will change your life! Those looking for a more casual pace can choose from community group bike rides sponsored by the Big Bear Cycling Association or nature walks, canoe tours, and kayak tours offered by the Discovery Center every weekend from May to October. SUMMERTIME ROLLS Mothers are honored at a hotrod show dedicated to motherhood at the Moms and Rods Antique Car Show. Artists display fine works of art on the water's edge at the annual Art on the Lake. Wine aficionados and casual sippers alike venture into Big Bear Village to sample various wines and hors d'oeuvres at the Wine Walk in the Village. MUSIC FILLS THE AIR - SUMMER CONCERTS All summer long the air is filled with music from rock 'n' roll concerts in the park to tribute bands at the Big Bear Discovery Center's woodsy amphitheatre. Save the date for Mountain Twilight Music Festival, JazzTrax and Blues for the Zoo. Mountain Twilight Music Festival features a diverse mix of genres including bluegrass, folk, blues, western and even Celtic. JazzTrax, a three day smooth jazz festival, situated right on the lake draws top-name headlining acts. Internationally recognized blues artists take the stage lakeside at Big Bear Lake's Swim Beach Outdoor Amphitheater as a benefit to raise funds for the Moonridge Animal Park. Speaking of the zoo, it too gets into the act with a variety of events from its Old Time Bear Country Fair to the Native American Arts Festival to a fun-time Ice Cream Safari. 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR Each Fourth of July thousands gather around the lake's 22 miles of shoreline to witness one of California's top-rated fireworks displays. This fireworks spectacular shoots off top-of-the-line fireworks that cascade over the lake creating a brilliant display of colors. It's a lengthy show of 30 minutes in duration, and can be viewed from a boat, around the lake and throughout Big Bear Valley. SPICE IT UP, CHILI TASTING COOK-OFF If you're looking for a little zest to spice up your vacation then mark your calendar for the annual chili cook-off every July. This event draws more than 40 cooks from all over the southwest cooking up tasty concoctions, some mild and some with a zip. Visitors are invited to taste test, enjoy live music and entertainment, food and drinks in the Bartlett Parking Lot in the Big Bear Village. VINTAGE BIG BEAR Big Bear Lake was once a prominent cattle range in the late 1800's to the mid 1950's. Today, the sagas of cowboy traditions live on at the annual Cowboy Poetry & Music Gathering. In August, more than 500 vintage autos, dragsters, and custom coupes climb the mountain highways to congregate at Big Bear Village for the annual two-day Antique Auto Show. Big Bear valley is a four season resort as well as a
beautiful place for group events and to live all year round.
There are three major highways to enter the valley as well as
an airport.
But for this journey we will begin on highway 18 which begins
in the City of San Bernardino, California. The 45 minute
drive up the mountain is in itself a scenic wonder however
when you cross over the dam on our new bridge you will enter
an area we call Boulder Bay. Just past the bay you will find
historic Golden Bear Gottages resort filled with 28 restored
cabins of all sizes fron little Jacuzzi studios to large
group cabins as large as 5 or 7 bedrooms. This is the place to take
your pet when vacationing in Big Bear Lake.
Just a block before Golden Bear Cottages you'll find a brand
new park on the lake, on your left, because it also provides
ample parking a dock that is often occupied by fishermen and
ladies with a great lake view!
Another quarter mile on your left and you will see a sign for
Pleasure Point Marina which has as much to do about boat
rentals, guided fishing tours and wakeboarding as well as
full and part time What To Do In Big Bear fishing and boating!
Big Bear valley is a beautiful four season resort as well as
a beautiful place to live all year round.
Another quarter mile on your right up highway 18 and you will
find a locals favorite called Azteca Grill with authentic
Mexican dishes to die for at very reasonable prices including
beer and wine. Say hello to your hosts Arturo and Rosa for
us!
And would believe just another quarter mile up the road on
your right you will find a long time outdoor fun park called
Alpine Slide. With Go carts, Miniature Golf and Bob Sled it
operates 12 months of the year and provides fun for Kids of
all ages.
Another quarter mile and you have to make a decision. Do you
wish to go straight ahead and enter the village with dozens
of shops and visit one of Big Bears most famous photo artist,
Tim Wolcott at his world famous Gallery Of The American
Landscapes. Or turn left, follow the curve and just on your
right you will discover the Bowing Barn with tons of things
to do including a bar with a dance floor.
And believe it or not just a few feet more and the next barn
red building is Big Bears newest entertainment center, the
Big Bear Fun Plex with its own lazer-tag court, alpine roller
coaster and, bumper cars, pool tables, arcade games and did
we mention the pizza restaurant inside?
By the way just few blocks more on your right and you will
the office for Action Zipline which is a 3 hour excursion
high up in the forest with nine zip lines that are sure to
open your eyes and give your heart a thrill. Don't miss this
"once in a lifetime opportunity"
Now just for a minute let me introduce you to our beautiful
forest with over 450 miles of off road vehicle paths as well
as an untold number of miles in bike paths and while we're on
the subject of bike paths just a quarter of a mile on your
right you will find Summit Blvd. entrance to that well known
premier ski slope and right on the corner with a huge parking
lot is another premier business called Chains Required that
not only rents bikes in the summer but skis in the winter.
What an ideal location.
By now you know that Big Bear is all about fresh air and
recreation with super relaxation!
When you are well rested from the recreating and shopping,
etc. let us introduce you to just two more places you will
want to know about. Go back down Moonridge road and turn
right and drive past the Stater Brothers and Von's shopping
centers and about a mile down the road you will find a fun
place on your right called Big Bear Snow Play and of course
its only open in the winter but on a very gentle hill that's
just right for small children as well as the adults you might
have with you.
And would you believe right across the highway is a giant of
a building called The Big Bear Lake Convention Center. This
building happens to house the largest Octoberfest celebration
in the state of California as well as a dozen major events
throughout the year. And would you believe it can hold up to
1500 people? For you Corporate types that are looking for a
location that provides a change in atmosphere with a ton of
old-world hospitality the Big Bear Lake convention center is
worth a look-see. Transportation from your accomodations the
valley is available.
The Big Bear Valley Historical Societies building and exhibit
is just a couple more miles out to the east of here housing
more mining information and such including the original
settlers, the Serrano Indians.
For more local events and traveler's information, stop by the
